I think the 7 1/2 ton license bit marks me down as old I took my test in 86 and its on there but I think it changed to nothing bigger than 3 1/2 ton van in the 90s
You have to be careful with hiring a 7.5 tone truck. Apart from the fact that unless you're accustomed to driving a large vehicle like that it can be very dangerous there is also the issue of operators license. The removal of the right to drive a 7.5 tone truck on a car license is one of things I believe has been done correctly.
If the van is hired in lfgss name and payment is taken it MAY be considered a commercial venture. This requires an operators license, which is extremely expensive and requires a registered qualified person whom has a operators license. N.B this is not the same license for driving the vehicle.
