Metallic blue would be nice, I would expect it'll cost quite a bit more to get done than the black though.

And the toe overlap is something else. I may have to buy some shorter toes.

I've been swapping a few PMs with eclix/Wes about this frame and while I like his choice of colours I think getting it powder coated will be a bit of a puppy kill to be honest - but I can see the cost and durability advantages and don't want another big amourtex debate!

That aside he does seems to have rather short forks - compare the photo above with mine - I have a good few cms clearance and you can see the clearance difference between the down tube and the front wheel:

In Holland all it takes is some patience and you can find a full campag record bike for between a 100 and 150euro

getting there (i think). now i'm contemplating black h+son/b43 on the back as it looks a bit front heavy maybe? how this ended being my daily commuter i don't know...

Thanks, I have a 46t chain ring already so I'll stick with that. Then I only have to shell out £15 for a sprocket.

Panaracer Pasela TG is a good option, not sure on how long it'll last when it come to skid (if you like doing those stupid long skid), but it's pretty good as a durable tyres;

They don't last long at all I'm afraid. Once you are past the first layer the rubber delaminates and it comes off in chunks. Also poor in the wet.

I just rode it down to my LBS to borrow some headset spanners, and he mentioned as well that the clearance between front wheel and down tube shouldn't be that tight.
But then he didn't know what 531 was, so lord knows.

That look pretty normal, Fox's Orrell seemed to be fairly relaxed for a track frame.

Of course the clearance should be that tight. That fork is definitely designed for a 700c.

That seem like a bloody good price, I think I paid £18 for a Surly from Cycle Surgery. I need a 16t for my commuter, it's running formula hubs. These should fit, shouldn't they.

It's optimum for a 19-23mm tubular, they are lower profile than 23c clinchers.

looks fine to me and a skinny track tub would have loads of room in there

^ tubs are also pretty much spherical in profile like an innertube with a tread on it. Clincher tyres are much more oval in profile so same width will be taller and give less clearence.

Physics and mathematics fails. To make the profile of a tyre, on the inside, anything other than a circular arc, you need circumferential bands as found in radial car tyres. The metal of the rim provides this below the edge of the bead hook, but above that the hoop stress and pressure are in equilibrium only for a circular cross section, if we ignore the different circumferential hoop stress between the periphery and bore of the toroid, which is a reasonable simplification when the cross section is very small compared with the radius of revolution.

The external profile of a bias ply bicycle tyre is, then, the interior circle + the casing and tread thickness profile, and this doesn't depend on whether it's a tubular or a clincher, although there are more clinchers with very non-uniform tread thickness (thick in centre, tapering significantly towards the side wall) which can give a somewhat elliptical profile.
