in fact the Thomson actually has less layback than a lot of 'normal' posts (wish it had a bit more)
The problem in that example is slack STA combined with visual aspect of Thomson combined with seat that is pointing up. Looks like the back of the bike is falling backwards.
Nothing wrong with chainring size though, can't be as I use a 34 myself :-)
