If your all lycred up then obviously a BMX lid is going to look stupid - i kind of agree with what you said, but if i was going to wear a helmet round town, it would be a bmx/skate style lid, that can take multiple impacts, and IMO is much better suited to the impact that you are likely to sustain around town - the downside is they are heavier and hotter
