Ted, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember how excited you were when you got it. You need to get a crew of people for Brick Lane. Plus, remember there's a thread here that I posted with the mobile phone numbers of the brick lane undercover's and their email's. Send them photos and explain the one-of-a-kindness and obvious things to look for (headset, seat stays). They mean well, but they don't know bikes.

Thats what I was thinking, CCTV at stations is normally "working" and on the lookout for potential security threats, im sure a theif wouldnt go unnoticed with an angle grinder. Could it have been the staff? there very hot on removing bikes locked up outside the racks (if it was).

The BMW was taken, at great effort, from a flat where plenty of other bikes were. Most likely it was stolen by someone who knew what is was and where to sell it.
Being stolen from a station looks far more opportunistic, and therefore more likely to turn up in the usual places.

also if the thief knows about components he/she will probably sell the
wheels or hubs separately. so we should keep an eye out for royce track hubs as they do not appear on the secondhand market
that often.

+1 an ex- factory dtm car - full carbon shell & race engine, possibly ended up in Eastern Europe/far East - surely bikes aren't going overseas?! But nothing would surprise..

i have just been to the station (i work next door) and had a look. the bike racks are on the platform and inside the ticket barriers... i can't believe they were so brazen. what was the window during which it could have happened and were the remains of your lock there? if so, can you tell how it was cut (sorry if this question has already been asked).

Tedster - I'll put the word out to the bike shops out west - they've recovered a fair few stolen bikes that numptys come in and try to sell them
