I've received the following message from Philip Wright who some of you may know from Herne Hill (local trivia: he played the role of Moser in The Flying Scotsman). He is looking for MTB bike parts in order to help a young person out. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated. Would normally put this in the classifieds thread but figure the charity aspect justifies putting it in general. Message below:
I've got a job teaching a 14year old who's been excluded from school. He's got serious educational and behavioural problems, he can't read or write and shows no interest in trying to get back into school.
But he's into bikes!
So I've been sent to teach him bike mechanics in the hope that it might 're-engage' him with education.
Now the bikes we've been given to work on are the pitts. I've managed to get an aluminium MTB frame and some wheels on FreeCycle but I'm looking for other bits so we can at least create something half decent.
So if you've got any old MTB parts you're never going to use ( rear mechs, chainsets, v brakes, 7 speed shifters) please let me know (I've removed his email address to avoid spambots but happy to pass it on if you PM me). Anything Altus or above will be better than what we've got!
