  • Fucking stupid arse cranks.

The standard BB lasts about a month on the road until it develops play and there are NO motherfucking alternatives out there...

Phil wood 105 mm pushed 2mm is just a hack and financially laughable and campag will probably make a 107-there-abouts when hell freezes over from all the wind generated by the flying pigs.

Proprietary bullshit like this just jars too much. These are really good cranks, nice and stiff, durable, pretty and even affordable but you're trapped in their component ecosystem.

Its almost as bad as iTunes.

  • im so sorry to hear that.

p.s im selling a brand new miche bb english threaded. £10

  • That looks like Frank Skinner.

  • Or gustav...

  • Tony Blackburn?

I had a Miche BB that started to unwind after a month.

    After tightening ran fine?

  • Fucking stupid arse cranks bottom bracket[?].

The standard BB lasts about a month on the road until it develops play...

was there play in the sealed cartridge? mine developed play and noticed it was the lockring that was coming loose after only a few kms. fault was in the lockring, not the bb cartridge. others here had the same problem. have you checked if this was the case?

  • royce? Adjustable chainline innit.

Lockring? I didn't think they had a lockring? Am I missing something?

  • Lockring? I didn't think they had a lockring? Am I missing something?

^ it looks like a ring and it locks the thing in so i call it lockring.

  • Fit a Sugino BB, the NJS one. It's ISO so the Miche cranks fit perfectly, it's what I run on my track bike.

Alternatively, the Centaur 111 BB gives a good enough chain line.

  • i've used a miche BB on the road for almost a year before..... no problems what so ever.

i've also got one on my track bike.... which is italian threaded, so even more likley to un-do itself.

i'll agree that it's not the best BB ever, but they're fine if you install them correctly.

  • No, you're a cunt.

  • You have a bought a BB sold as a track bottom bracket and are surprised it doesn't like the British winter roads?

I never had any problems with Miche BB's. They are good for at least a year correctly fitted. £10 a time.

Fit one in spring, change it next spring if the winter has killed it. Job done.

  • if it will come out

  • if it will come out

They need special tool... As per fucking usual.

  • centaur 111mm = awesome BB, no contest. have used these on every ISO bike since I discovered it.

Miche BB uses a standard campag tool?

Do you think you should perhaps just find a good LBS and get them to do it for you?

  • I've spoken to a few bike shops about miche bb's this week and they have all said that they are really good.

  • This has been done to death before. Was there really any need for yet another thread? These are just 2 of the many :

    fnking A

  • Im using a shimano UN 54 with my miche cranks, works fine, chainline is good too.

    bingo.

nothing wrong with the BB, merely the installation, if there's something wrong, it's that.

I've just took the crank off and check the miche BB on my bike, it was completely covered with road grim and salt from the snow, but still spin smoothly as the day it was installed.

  • tell us how you installed it then ed

  • with a torque wrench. wind that fucker up. it says in the instructions how tight to do it, i think its about 40Nm, which is a lot. i used a 16in long torque wrench and it felt like i was going to strip the threads of the bb, i didn't. no problems four months in. i also locktite'd the threads.

Same here. My miche one died two years ago and I've been using the shimano ever since but am fed up with having the wrong iso.

So does the 111mm campy bb actually give an acceptable chainline because a 110mm shimano was miles off.
