Had a C40 and it was a beautifully balanced bike that handled very well, especially on long descents. It is, however, now over 15 years old in terms of design so is nowhere near as stiff as more modern carbon fibre frames. The C50 is meant to be stiffer, but I've not ridden one, and still has the balanced handling.
They are bombproof too, mine was ridden in all weathers, over rough roads and I took it all over Europe in a bike box without a single ding.
Definitely worth getting one if you can.

Thanks very much mate - I'm hoping to get a C50 or very a shiny b-stay C40. Thinking of doing cyclefit anyway so might see if they'd let me go for a spin on one of theirs. Do you know how consistent the sizing is with older Colnagos? (Got a 90's master at the mo)
Colnago C40 / C50s - anyone got / owned one and what did you think? Worth shelling out a bit more for a C50? I am talking secondhand here.....
