Tommy you are my Hero of the day. You dealt with that perfectly. Don't beat yourself up about not getting his details, by being the bigger man he walks away having to do some long hard thinking.
All i'd add is next time try not using so many curse words, maybe a list of substitutes taped to your handlebars could help
