  • i did a comparison with the fenix and the hope, Ed. the fenix was half the weight, half the price and twice as bright.

  • I have the old Land M Stella 120 its still pretty bright I use the helmet mount and put the battery in a back pocket it lasts 3 hours on full beam and charges in just over an hour

  • I remember you did Murtle, can't find it in this topic...

    edited - just found it, worth posting it here for those who want to know;

  • Front lights are easy to get sorted, there's lots to choose from and they're all fairly bright.

Now, rear lights... what great rear lights are there?

  • Dinotte

  • I have that light, the 140L. Wow.

  • ^ A shining (excuse the pun) example of a very bright, very cheap light. These always need to be mentioned to people who want to splash out a couple hundred quid on a light for commuting.

  • When it come to back light, cheap and cheerful is usually enough to be seen by others.

I have a cheap cateye one on the back that's plenty bright from a distance (flash mode).

  • Speaking of rear lights, can anyone recommend any that would work with an aero seatpost, like:

I'm currently having to clip them on to jersey/jacket.

  • The cateye one have those strap that allowed you to fit them on those big aero seatpost, have you tried those?

  • I've got the Hope light, was well impressed with it, much brighter than I thought it would be.

question - is it worth getting the rechargable 2700mAh battery? right now I've the rechargable energizer 2450mAh, I have no idea how much difference between those two battery is.

I have 2700mAh for mine, last about a month with normal usage on flash mode (about 2 hours use most days)

Gonna need to replace the battery casing of mine soon, its starting to crack and one of the contacts has come off..those this doesnt affect connection.

  • I've got that light. Happy enough with it.

  • On the subject of rear lights, I swear by these

    http://www.parker-international.co.uk/13040/Smart-317R-1-2-Watt-LED-Rear-Light.html

Basically they call themselves superflash, come with the aaa's and are the best rear light I've ever used and at less than a tenner at the moment are a total bargain. 3 little flashing leds in sequence then a big f/o pulse from the main er, 'superflash'

You definitely won't be disappointed, they're one of those products that you pray they don't replace in the new seasons line etc.

  • I bought mine for £13-14 I think. For £8 it's a steal!

  • word I have one and so dose my other half.

tip from BMMF is silicone gel or vaseline round the seals to help improve water resistance.

  • meant to mention free p&p too and good service from Parkers

No, I don't work for them

  • How long could you stay alive for in London on a winter's night riding with these?

£60 for an 1 average LED.. lovely.

  • anyone used the blackburn flea usb light?
purely as a be seen flashy thing?
thinking of getting a front one, i have a cateye twin led if i want to light the road up but i want something small and convenient (the usb means i can top up the charge easily)

  • Yeah I use both front and rear - Simply for that reason, as an annoying flashy thing. Bloody bright for something so small. I tend to find that the front needs charging more often than the rear for some reason (both flashing...)

Get the set, it probably works out cheaper. As they're so small and no fittings are needed, I tend to stick em in a saddlebag in case a long weekend jaunt ends up being longer than expected...

Because it takes more energy to make a photon of blue light than one of red light.
