  • God damn, missed out putting myself down when i had the chance.
2nd dibs on a space if anyone pulls out.

  • I have a space in a tent.

  • Coolio.
im not fat or mental or anything. can help carry the load.

  • i was gonna say what a great idea this is. Turns out i've been added to the list so i'm in for the camping win!

  • ..
im not fat or mental or anything...

    Ginuwine lols.

  • Okeydokey, spoke to the campsite lady. She says it's OK to book the 19 pitches as 19 people in 19 tents for booking and 50% deposit purposes, and then pay the rest (the other 50% and the additional people/tents) on arrival. That means the deposit for each pitch is £5.

So I will go ahead and book 19 tents and 19 people but I need to hassle people for cash first :)

If you can confirm the number of people/tents you are then it might be easier to pay me the full amount now so you don't have to worry about paying the extra when we get there.

Alternatively if you just want to pay the £5 deposit to secure your pitch you can just do that.

    You can either:
    paypal to rosanna(dot)downes(at)googlemail.com
pm me for my bank details and do a transfer
gimme your cash at South Easts tomorrow

and I will book on Wednesday.

You can also, if you prefer, book directly through the campsite website but if you do that please tell me or I'll get well confused when I go to book and the pitches aren't there anymore.

On bivvy bags and additional tents: she says there are about half a dozen bigger pitches where you can fit two small tents in, so if we book 19 pitches then we can have a few extra small tents. I asked about bivvy bags and she said 'what's a bivvy bag?' so I'm guessing you can just pay as an additional person and bed down in someone else's pitch.

I hope that all makes sense...

If you've confirmed with someone that they're sharing your tent it would be good if you can add them to your tent number on the list so we can keep track of numbers.

    cheers all

  • I'll be away on those dates otherwise i'd have been well up for this. :)

  • There will hopefully be a spare space in tent 19, will have to dig it out and decide how fat i'm feeling!

so.. 2 of us in pitch 9 = £15, correct?

£15 coming your way at SE tomorrow, else I'll drop it off on wednesday eve if you're in?

awesome job for organising this - I can't think of a better first forum ride (for me) than with some of my absolute favourite people in London :)

  • humm. fixed and ultra-lightweight, or geared with trailer and full luxury?

if anyone needs to borrow a lightweight stove, or a tent, I can help...

Correcto. Cool - I'll be at SEs from about 6.45 or I'll be in Wednesday from 7ish, or Scott'll be in all day.

  • Is there any chance of slinging a hammock between some trees or if they are full is it frowned upon?

  • As it's a properly run campsite as opposed to wild camping we don't want to look like we're taking the piss, so i'm afraid we'll have to say no to hammocks as there's no guarantee there will be trees within pitches etc.

Regarding Bivvy bags the owner has said to class them as a tent, but she's also said that we're allowed more than one tent per pitch if they fit...this effectively means that you can bivvy on someone elses pitch, but it will still cost you £5 for the bivvy and £5 for yourself.
Also, not all the pitches are the same size and not everybody's tents are the same size...so again we can't really have too many people bivvying either.

Sorry if it all sounds a bit strict, but as it's our first time at the campsite i'd like to make a good impression so we'll be able to use them again.
    Cheers!

  • For those that miss out on the camping. i have space for a few people at my place in Brighton. Just give me a message.

Lewes is not at all far away. Come and swing by the new bike shop on the Saturday (or sunday if i decide to open)

    x

  • Matt, there is space in my tent too, We can reminisce about why you bought a Dawes Mono!

  • it is a practical bike! steel frame, sealed bearings, proper tyres, full mudguards and rack. drop bars and two brakes.. served me well in the ice. plus it was ccheeeep at trade ;)

And yeh, im in. Aslong as we can get Toby involved.
I know if you two are together, then i will get left alone

  • But Toby will be screaming like a wee sissy girl all night long, we better bring something to calm him down, like a porta-loo and a playboy magazine!

  • Scott I meant wrt to the lfgss peeps. IIRC they are pretty happy about hammocks from another forum, however as you are head of the ride it's your call.

  • Translation? somebody? :)

    something about immigrants?

  • Sorry, in english now (short had was due to a rather helpful 8 month old trying to help).

I recall hearing that they were happy for people to use hammocks, as your organising the ride then either I need to scrounge a bivvy space or leg it earlier.

  • Well she didn't sound overly keen...i just don't want to push things on the first booking if you know what i mean?
There should be spaces inside tents still though by the look of it.

  • ok, no worries, anyone with spare space in a tent?
