blah blah blah
it's irrelevant who made your groupset if the levers don't suit your hands and aren't comfortable on a long ride.
it only really matters if you are an anally retentive bike obsessive who cares more about what other people think about you and your bike choices than actually riding a bike.
i guess that's a lot of people on here then :-) -

Shimano are mass-produced, Japanese keirin frames are not.
But shimano NJS products* for *the Keirin bikes are made separately to the general release products and are of a limited number each year.
And in any case, tuiloui's post is a bit wrong because of course Shimano NJS products do attract a lot of interest.
Mass production is irrelevant to quality. I'd rather have something made by specialized (insert any other well known brand) which has undergone rigorous testing and is used by professionals, than some "boutique" brand chuck-together job welded by a stoned up chancer who saw an opening to make a quick buck from some hipsters.
Something is good if it is good, whether it is common or rare.

With Shimano's fishing tackle experience.. their bike components runs flawlessly.. even while submerged!

Also only Dura Ace is made in Japan all other Shimano road groupsets are made in Taiwan.

I think my comparsion was a bit narrow, the NJS Keirin frame are made differently to fit each rider perfectly, a proper custom job, whether the groupset tend not to be, even the NJS component.
didn't meant to make 'mass produced' sound very bad though.

Do you recall campags SGR pedals, pneumatic saddle and aero thermal bottles ?
i think the best campag item i have is the Big Corkscrew. You're so right.
SGR pedals were a real drama. I left my shoes in the pedals and unlaced them to get off the bike.
But we should not forget to mention the 1st version of the indexed down tube shifting lever.Fully agree on the cork screw. Every bottle of wine opened is our house has to admit that.

That's the thing though ^ the Campag post is entirely let down aesthetically by the lower half of the clamp and the Allen Bolt. Pretty it ain't, at least not in comparison to the Shimano post.
...because campagnolo athena was a a low level groupset, while shimano 600 AX was the 2nd best in their respective ranges!!
You paid more for the campagnolo post because people who know little of the componentry product hierarchy assume that any campagnolo > any shimano. Which is of course bollocks.
The issue is further confused by the recent re-introduction of athena, as their entry level 11-speed groupset. People now assume its shit, but it's actually essentially centaur carbon with 1 extra gear.

That is, frankly, bollocks. Please detail the material qualities of carbon fibre which will cause it to degrade over time. Thanks.
It's all about the mix of design, tradition and cycle achivements of the past.
I also think that campy need more knowledge or imagination some times...
