I've used, Phil, Condor's own, EAI and Surly with no issues, you sure you have a 1 1/8th cog?
-
• #3
wanted a surly one which is why i looked at there site but it says in moderately sized bold writing dont use them........
im fairly confident in my abilities.......... but i managed to strip BOTH threads on either side of flip/flop novetech thing and it turned out that it was to do with the threading, hence my worries.
would go for a phil one but im not sure i can justify the monies, from what i can work out its just really shiny and well machined.
thanks again, i'll look into the DA ones

Am running EAI both for track and road at the moment on my fixed/fixed and they are good as gold.
got them from hubjub. -

well... thank you all very much for your input. spose i'll be posting in the projects thread in the not to distant future :D
night all

• #6
you have a phil hub yet cannot extend to a phil sprocket?
-
• #7
I've run On-One, Condor and DA cogs on Phil hubs without issue.
There is an obvious difference between the force needed to first fit a potentially tight cog and totally threading one.

I'm running Phil on Phil and I can confirm that they are very shiny. They also fit together well, and look all shiny.
Or they did, before I rode them for months between washes.

Felix, get a Phil cog.
If you really don't want one, get EAI.
Just make sure you get either of those.
Really though in my opinion your hub deserves the best, and that is the one and only Sir. Phil Wood.

Meh.

Let's face it, if you're gonna buy shit like Phil you have to accept you're a bit of a geek.

Pah.
EAI Gold medal or don't bother.

Any high quality cog made to specific thread requirements should be the same shouldn't it?

I have a sexy shiny Phil sprocket, and a wallet friendly Token sprocket.
The Phil is far more enjoyable, to look at and handle. They both ride the same same as far as I'm concerned though.

And you certainly don't want to be handling it when you are riding.
My cog is usually covered in oil/mud so I stick to the basic £20ish EAI thing which does me.

You can get polished EAIs though. Just expensive. Not has expensive as the gold medal things though.

But they're gold.

The gold medal sprockets are pretty cool.
i won't be putting one anywhere near any of my bikes though.
anyone got any ideas?........... other than the phil ones
think i have a dura ace one, but when i screw it on gently the threads feel far too stiff to be good for it. the phil tech site says it has a threading of 1.370 x 24 tpi
cheers
