  • hi all,

not sure if this would interest anyone, but was thinking of hitting up dryslope or snowdome soon. anyone up for it???

    cheers

    hoax

  • Im a snowboard instructor at a john nike ski slope at Swadlincote but i live in cornwall now, at uni, where are you thinking of going?

  • Please not the John Nike. No offence, but it is a hill with some carpet stuck to it.

MK is pretty easy to get to on the train. About 40 minutes from Euston and about £10 in a taxi.

  • Some of the best snow conditions in Scotland for decades.
Ok, so it' might be a bit further up the M6 but...

  • Doesn't hemel hempstead have one?

MK is just a straight drop not that great but good for begineers

    and there are Reindeer!

Hemel does have a new snowslope, its not too bad, there's a few jumps made up, but its not that big, compared with the Xscape. May be a bit quieter though.

  • Shall we organise a trip?

  • ha i wasnt suggesting to go to John nike, for learning its ok, but for a decent trip out i wouldnt recommend it :)

Hemel freesyle nights are sick and the snows pretty good, MK snow isnt great, Castleford snow is good but its abit further from london

    so yeah, hemel!

  • I'll come down to M.K. from Birmingham if you do organise a trip.

  • how does MK compare to the tamworth snowdome?

  • I was snowboarding on Devils Dyke in Brighton on Sunday. It rocked! :)

  • @ fatboyralph
Tamworth has a slight left turn onto a straight, with a small "roller" - like ridge, which means theres a little more fun to be had if, like me, you use these indoor slopes to jib around on. MK is wider, with some cool little hits in between the pillars (if the snow has collected well) its also longer.
Tamworth is shabby, but its been my local slope for quite a while now, so i am a fan. Its fuckin' hilarious to see some visitors (and i mean generally now) taking it waaaaaaaaay too serious, and being really frustrated at the bottom, cos they didn't get some "crisp - carving" in. Fuuuuuuuuck off!

  • tamworth all the way. I remember going there when it first opened - there were turnstile tht you had to swipe a card to get through, and then once your hour was up, it stopped working. There was a handy coin slot so you could have another run for a quid though!

  • so any preferred dates????? hemal seems like a good choice. when is the freestyle nights????

it appears to be a Friday night they do the Freestyle sessions at Hemel. and it's not a long slog from the train station to the centre, although it is a new town, so they have weird roundabouts.

there's no drinks on Fridays at the moment either, so lynx can definitely go..

anyone want to look into the other places to compare prices/freestyle nights etc.?

  • avoid MK at all costs. liars and money grabbers.

    HH looks awesome!

^ this weeks park set up, found here:
    HH park plan

i'd be up for some in February.

  • ^^ Im amazed they managed to cram all that lot in. It looks pretty cool. I went on a regular day a couple of months ago and as with all the indoor slopes they get pretty boring after an hour or so for anyone who is halfway competent.

  • wow that HH freestyle set up looks sweet.

i am up for a night in feb! anyone at east drinks this week???? i haven't been before but thinking of braving it!
