I spoke to a bloke last week who thought it was disgusting that London had 1 snowplough when Calgary has 59. I pointed out to him that Calgary is slightly different to London and 8 feet of snow overnight, everynight isn't unusual. All he said was "it's the principle though, isn't it." Regretably I bit and asked him what principle - he then proceeded to rattle on about lack of investment in road clearing facilities, lack of salt etc. The bloke didn't seem to understand that thse machines might lay idle for a decade before being needed again, by which time they'll be superceded by something else that's supposed to be purchased nationwide for use once every ten years?! WACretin.
