• David Le Grys and Lee Povey of www.fasttrackcoaching.biz are excited to announce details of our eagerly anticipated Track Endurance training weekend at Newport Velodrome on the 13th and 14th of March, 2010.

This weekend is aimed at improving observation skills, bunch positioning, sprint finishing and tactical awareness in riders wishing to ride scratch, elimination and points races across a range of standards from B and C cat track league riders to National Championship competitors. The feedback and coaching is very similar to that used by the GB national squad in preparation for major competitions.
In a fun and welcoming coaching environment, David and Lee will give detailed video feedback on the optimal tactics for a broad range of race situations, giving you the confidence to race with purpose and assertiveness, allowing you to achieve the results you deserve!
You will be grouped on ability/current fitness so every standard will be catered for.
We have 4 hours track time each day plus a group road rides on Sunday morning giving you great value for money.

We have had a large number of enquires so please contact us immediately to avoid disappointment if you wish to participate.

  • I advise anyone who's serious about track league to go to this!

  • I'd love to do it but I can imagine the look on Andrea's face if I even mentioned it to her. Next time maybe.

Good luck with it Lee, hopefully you'll get a full turnout.

    Horrible, isn't it ;)

  • In fact I recommend anyone who races at HH to go to this, learn about not pulling long turns on the front!

(A scratch ridden on an indoor track by good riders is a beautiful thing to watch, it flows and moves in a way you don't get on big outside tracks)

  • You going Rob?

  • You going Rob?

riders wishing to ride scratch, elimination and points races

    serious about track league

    ahem.

  • Rob, it can only help your coaching to experience some bunch racing skils sessions ;-)

  • refuses to bite

unless that's an invite for free track time :p

  • Lee, how much will this cost and what do I need to take part?

  • I still couldn't determine whether Robs post meant he was going or not.

riders wishing to ride scratch, elimination and points races - Probably Not

serious about track league - But I thought you were going to be more serious about the HH league this year. Hence all the training?

Training to be fast over short distances, not for track league. Don't enjoy long bunch races. Not to say I won't be doing a few of course, but last year was difficult to commit to wednesday nights cos of work.

  • I found the track league hard going last year. I Just found it hard after a long day at work, having not eaten properly etc etc. But everyone s in the same boat, so I am not using that as an excuse. Need to come to some better arrangements for this year

  • Hey Wiesia,

email me and I will send you all the details. Cost is £125 for the weekend.

    Cheers

  • @ Lee - good luck with your international venture. Will this be the end of that country's track cycling doldrums? At least I'll know who to blame if they start winning everything :D

  • I am signing up for this.
    Anyone else?

  • I am signing up for this.
    Anyone else?

I've put in for it; hope I'm fast/fit enough... Where are people staying?

  • ahh probably the holiday inn or comfort in whatever that a few of us stayed at last time.
BC stay there apparently when they use Newport and there is a discount for BC members I thinkk

  • You could stay at the etap. Basic but fine. About £25 a night on suite, including breakfast.

  • Dave mac and I both stayed at the Travelodge which was close to the station and less than £25 for a night. Most others were at the premier Inn which was probablyy more convenient if travelling by car and about the same price. It was also next door to where we ate supprt. If staying at the Travelodge, park only in their car park. Do not do as Dave did and park in the municipal car park that doesn't open on Sundays.

  • As Clive says, Travelodge is central and rooms start at £19 .The council car park next door looks like a great place to park until you find that on a sunday you can't get your car out or even get to your car. I therefore had the pleasure of an extra night in Newport and had to pay for the privilege of Newport Council looking after my car. Luckily I had taken my bikes and kit out of the car and left them in my room on saturday night. The actual Travelodge car park is round the back and has about 10 spaces.

I'll be in the Premier Inn this time and in the slow group on the track....

Did you go by train? Could be a good plan. How far is it to walk (carrying your bike....) to the velodrome?

and in the slow group on the track....

See you in the slow group :)

  • We both drove. It would be a cab ride to the velodrome. Not walkable.

  • There's a new Travelodge opening in Newport centre a couple of days before - only £29 at the moment - http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=399

  • I'm really thinking of signing for this...

one thing I was wondering is if I can hitch a lift (+bike) with anyone driving from London. Happy to chip in petrol money (but I can't actually drive, so can't help with that)

Failing that anyone share any experience on how arduous is it to get from the train station to the velodrome?
