I might start a 'Heaviest Bike' thread for the winter. No more obsessing about how light your bike is... lets start a trend in the other direction. I'm digging my scales out now...

played around with the barry chick track bike to make it more useable every day. camapa tub wheels are gone and replaced by charge plug clincher wheels. front brake is shimano 600, cranks and bb TA with 15/42 seat post, adjustable track stem, and track bars are 3ttt. Saddle is an Arius and headset is camapa veloce (and needs to be changed for a period correct one).
oops pic is with the old campa wheels

Just bagged this little beauty on ebay.

nice Andy, are you going to change anything on it?
and for that price, a steal!
-
• #20556
Gonna change the bars and stem. Nitto rb-018/nitto stem (everyday use). Also got some track drops as i'd like to ride this on the velodrome at some point.
If the seller would have posted it would have went for much more i reckon.

Hi,
Started building a new fixie project. I've got either a Reynolds 531 or 501 - sticker is flaked after the 5.
Paintwork is in pretty bad condition and if i continued to build would need repainting.
It has vertical dropout, and personally i enjoy riding it, but thats possibly because I have no alternative racer to compare with.My question is, is it worth forking out £60 to get the frame painted, or should I just go for a better frame?

We really are a bunch of geeks. 1 week of snow, and everybody is out on the fat tyred beasts they had in the stable for just such an occasion
Conti Vertical Pro UST at 20psi worked well on the snow, but rubbish on ice.

Exactly. weight = traction
My bike weighs half a ton in the winter, and I purposely *dont *have a shit before going for a ride.

Shed porn. Want.
So did we decide? Basement or Garage? Either way its a cool space. Any more photos of it?
I could live in that. -

I deliberately ate a lot of fatty food over Christmas because I saw icy conditions on the long-term weather forecast. The additional midriff-ballast has really helped maintain traction - right in the centre of my body, like a mid-engined sports car, think about it people...
Pot-bellies FTW.

501 frames are fine. 531 is nicer but 501 is fine for general riding around town. Why not build it up, ride it and if you like it invest in a paintjob?

Yeah, but is what you bought lighter than a 'Chatge Plug'?

Not sure where else to put this without starting a new thread and it is kind of an on going project....
If you were to flip the stem upside down, ie. first I had it with a rise and flipped it over to a slight drop. It feels as though it's completely changed the handling of the bike, why? Basically.
