Brakes for Cinelli Vigorelli

Posted on
  • Is there any way I can attach a front brake to a Vigorelli frame.

Apparently it can't be done, and id like to know before I buy the frame.

  • i don' think it drilled iirc, but you can always get a fork that is drilled. the cinelli x mash is drilled for front brake.

  • Not sure how good they are but possibly one of these http://www.tracksupermarket.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=330 would do the job?

  • Or buy a bike designed for use with brakes

  • there^

  • I have definitely seen drilled front forks on a vigorelli, one million percent.

  • Any info on where I can get that done if It doesnt come with it, london area.

  • Edwardes camberwell did it for dammit.

  • I've had Chas Roberts in Croydon drill a couple of forks for me, they're frame builders they do it all the time so it's no problem for them. Costs £10-15.

  • buy a bike designed for use with brakes

    .

  • My vigorelli is a 09 and thats drilled for a brake so I guess the 2010 is aswell. Not sure about older models.

  • Isn't the vigorelli, like the mash drilled and filled?
that is to say they are drilled and then filled (duh) prior to painting. So re-drilling the front is very easy. The back remains drilled.

  • You can do it with a hand drill- I have done 3-4 this way and they have all been fine, but they have also all been beaters.

Edwardes use a chap who has a pillar drill, so it is accurate- far more accurate than a hand drill can ever be.

On bikes worth more than £50 for the frame I'd use Edwardes or similar rather than holding the forks down with my foot and having at them with the 18 volt Bosch.

  • I've got an '09 Vigorelli, and the forks drilled... think Harry Major's right... your fork may just have a filled brake hole!
