What speed cassette do they take? 7,8,9 or 10?

Ok, so I bought these wheels and they are indeed lovely (especially since I just spent an hour polishing the buggers!). However the freehub body is for a campag 8 spd cassette and I need 9spd. It may be possible to convert but that's pushing my mechanical barriers...

So, sadly, they are back on offer, for what I paid - £85. 8 speeders, I know you're out there....

From the very quickest of googles I think you can just replace the rear cassset with a 9 speed one.

Maybe someone else can confirm or deny this?

Then its just a case of adjusting the gears... which you might not even have to do. Might be worth checking/asking you LBS before selling as it sounds like you got a good deal.

That's ok... as it happens though, it's not quite as simple as it could be: the 7/8spd and 9/10spd freehub bodies have different splines on them, so you can't just replace the cassette. It may be possible to replace the 8spd freehub body with a 9spd one, but that's where I got overwhelmed by the mechanics and thought 'bugger this'.

Pretty simple, I can switch them for you, trouble is you will end up paying nearly as much for the 9 speed carrier.

Ah, thanks guy...but as you kind of mention, it doesn't really seem like a financially viable move...wibble, they're still yours. Guess these Sciroccos were meant to live their lives as 8spd. Cheers all!

No one needs more than 8 speed. I spend most of my time on one!
