I had a problem with the Sora's i got too (lower end stuff) it clicks but derailleur didn't budge alot.. Guys told me my rear mech needed some tweaking, and now it works fine (they claimed its working like dura-ace!).. so wondering if this is the case for you too perhaps?

My 105 left brifter died in the first hour of riding after being bought from new on a specialized last April. Shop wasn't surprised and neither were Madison who supplied replacement.
Search back there is a discussion or two i think only problem i had was that so many failed in such a short period shimano couldn't ship replacements fast enough.

yupss, heard of the unreliable left brifters esp with the Tiagras =( most shifters on ebay are RH ones, because the LH ones are broken, forcing their owner to buy a new pair. Apparently campag parts are more reliable and durable.. so they say!

Campag wears in, Shimano wears out. :p

it's a little metal sear that goes in the left shifter (i took one apart) if it's officially u.k. supplied not a grey import then it should be covered under warranty?

not sure.. maybe check with shimano's web? sorry not quite helpful here =
Just riding back from work and my right (controls rear mech) 105 shifter seems to have completely gone. The latest ones - i think 5600 or something like that, have had them for about 6 months, about 1800ish miles. Basically the shifter wont do anything. It clicks, but the rear mech doesnt move.
I have heard rumors that there is a problem with 105 shifters, breaking very easily. Has anyone experienced this? Know if it is true?
Thanks
