Carpentry (joinery) or Welding?

I've had a look at some boat building things already. Unfortunately most are way to far away from where I live to be feasible.(by the coast) Where are you based and what kind of training is it?

In for a penny in for a pound? If it's a great opportunity and what you want to do moving may be neccessary.

Nice thread though, i've just started a foundation degree in science and am looking at 4.5 - 5 years for the full degree, just in time for a mid-life crisis and a change of career! Good luck and as someoen said above get your applications for course in soon, even if your not sure better to be able to say no to a course later on than not have the option.
