This is an example of the sort of event you mean--a year ago:

I'd suggest calling the City Police to find out when the next one is going to be. I haven't heard anything. The City Police number for general enquiries is 020 7601 2222.

Yeah, I went to one but it wasn't near Liverpool St. it was um.. somewhere else.. where they'd setup some trucks and if you sat in a truck you got off a RLJ fine.. err logic fail but anyway £30 in my pocket.
-
• #6
Can you go and sit in a truck to get tokens which let you off future RLJ fines? Just in case, like.
-
• #7
I need those magic tokens especially as its now £60
-
• #8
Has it not went up to £75 with the £15 increase in fines.
Its a total cunt living in this country now. -
• #9
Shit man! I have to pay £75 if I was caught illegally jumping a red light?! man this country has gone down the dog! BROKEN BRITAIN!
-
• #10
Its a fuckin nightmare.£75 for no seatbelt,£75 for speeding.
The increase is to pay for victims of crime.
Like fuck it has.
Just another stealth tax -

And the simple answer is.......

And the simple answer is.......
Don't RLJ whilst speeding and not wearing a seatbelt?
-
• #13
Have some pie.
-
• #14
And the simple answer is.......
Dont get caught?
-
• #15
Just don't jump red light, it's as simple as that.
Don't complain when they caught you breaking the law on purpose.
-
• #16
Cheers Oliver will give it a go
-
• #17
A simple way to get off this fine is to cycle in very dark sunglasses whilst holding a white cane in front of the bike. Then a simple "But I didn't see a red light officer", or perhaps a "who said that?" should see you let off immediately.

Just spoke to someone at the number Oliver gave. Idea is to turn up outside the station near mcdonalds and it will be made obvious where to go. And twenty minutes between those two times.
Just in case anyone else finds themselves in a similair situation.

Les us know how you get on!

I did this years ago. The one I went to was at St.Pauls. You watch a video (you may need to wait until there are a few of you), which at the time was warning cyclists of the dangers of riding on the inside of lorries. They asked for my ticket, they then chat to you about the dangers of RLJing and just general road safety. The police that I spoke to were friendly, did not lecture and I saved £30.

The City of London Police only seem to care about getting cyclists - they seem to stand in dark doorways around Bank and Lpool St hunting down the menace cyclist - idiots - I've seen them loads of times now I know where to watch out. Shame they dont look out for the bus and lorry drivers who who jump red lights and dont give room to cyclists

City Cyclists have been doing quite a lot of work on this with the City Police. Get involved if you're keen to help:
I searched for this but cant find anything, sure this must have come up before and people have been... can you answer a couple of questions?
I was gifted this notice by a nice man in a blue van after going through an "orange" light earlier today and it says go to this safety presentation at liverpool street (outside station nr. McDs) and traffic fine of £30 will be waived. However it doesnt say:
A proper address to go to.
What time - it says 20 minutes at 7:30am till 10am. What does that mean? Go at 7.30 and stay for 20 but u can hang out till ten? Or any time for twenty minutes between 7.30 and ten?
Thank you!
(oh and hi again)
