Talking of boozers. Has anyone ever noticed the little pub on Highgate road just under the bridge after the jaguar garage just before the lights used to be called the wellington i think proper estate pub. Well its been taken over and is now reopened as a real ale/cider place just like the westons place apparently! Oh yeah and i heard there is some nice sights in there.

You mean the Southampton Arms? It was done up recently, by the same people who run The Star on nearby Chester Road, thank god they've not gone all-out fancy-pants gastro, but kept a very stripped-back, refined old man's boozer feel in there... Small but beautiful place, and serves nice pork pies!

I spent NYE there, getting smashed on excellent ales and dancing like a maniac to live music from a raucous folk-ish band called The Flea Pit Orchestra. Good night.

I've lost the plot. What and where is going on?

I'm pretty sure it's meet at the bull and last at the bottom of wests hill at 7.30 then we're going to make a decision on the conditions and either head to the bridges ride or stay in the pub.

If I've got anything wrong can someone correct, otherwise see you there.

izgard, if you're doing bridges on saturday night and want to roll down with us we're meeting at the Bull and Last at 7.30pm.

The other pub being discussed, Southampton Arms(?), is where we might end up if the weather is shit on saturday.

Though if people want to we can meet there killing two birds cos then we get to try the new boozer and have somewhere to meet. (Though I don't imagine the ice cream is up to that of the stuff from the Bull and Last.)

Sounds fun. I'll join, bar any unexpected commitments I may have forgotten.

I'm pretty sure I will bail: I'm feeling a bit rough at the moment, and I don't think a 3hr ride in sub zero temperatures will do me much good tbh, regardless of road surface conditions.

Thats the boozer! knew it had a dodgy name. Sounds like it will be fun. Sod riding in the cold when there's fine drinking to be done!

The other pub that i mentioned had warm spiced cider on the menu with slow roast pork sandwiches! Now im sure that could get you through your ride tonight!
