there is a knack to it, once ive got both beads into the tiniest section, i kind of wedge it against my stomach so it cant slip out, and then slowly work my way round, once youve got the hang of getting them started they're actually not that bad.

trick is to get one side in... then the tube roughly in place... and push the bead into the rim bit by bit and tie a bit of inner tube/cable tie/bit of string round the tyre and the rim as youre working your way round... thats what ive done anyway. Saves the hands a bit.

what you need is a dosis of HTFU, or failing that just "man up"

be careful not to get the tube stuck between the beeb and the rim. i had a tube blow up on me before doing that...took like two mins and scared the shit out of my cat...was so funny.

Similar to how Ray explained, I get one side on 1st with inner tube in place. Then work on the other side, often by using a few tyre levers to keep the bead initially on rim. Then just push rest of bead on bit by bit with forceful hands.

The last tyre I put on was a marathon + 32c. Was a bitch but it went on.

It is all about using your feet.

I gave up after half an hour... It was like some kind of retarded Charlie Chaplin comedy routine...
