  • @Potter - No offense intended. Just you started talking about gear ratios and and how to calculate them and ways to skin a cat, which isn't massively relevant to mikec wanting a 12t cog.

    Please accept my apologies.

  • Found the 12T 1/8th cog MikeC.

    PM me when you can.

  • Got another? :-)

  • No offense taken Gizmond, just new to this forum and trying to
join in after many years away from cycling. Will try to keep replies
relevant in future, not used to forums!
But no problem at all just pleased to be here!

  • Ha you got me!

I am basically trying to achieve a ratio that will allow me to build leg strength on my rollers with resistance. The resistance on these are not as strong as that on a turbo so I am looking to get a GI of at least 110. Would like to go even higher but for that I would need to buy a new chain ring and I aint doing that

use big tyres that'll bump up the resistance.. and run 'em on the min. reccomended pressure too !

  • Anyone interested in a 3/32 Campag Super Record 57T chainnring?

  • There are some interesting ideas on this thread on how to increase GI so thanks for all your help. I'm collecting the 12t sprocket tomorrow and will see how I get on

  • you could also ride with a 700x32 tyre, it will increase diameter and GI ;)

  • he may as well buy a big chainring then, instead of paying out for tyres

  • use big tyres that'll bump up the resistance.. and run 'em on the min. reccomended pressure too !

completely OT and no use to mike at all, but I put my flatmate's BMX on the rollers and bloody hell was it hard work. Can't quite see it working as a great training aid though...
