I think it could be because of a serious hip injury sustained at 15, that pretty much destroyed my track and field aspirations. It nags and niggles, and is particularly unforgiving of unilateral stresses, including those generated on the bike at times.
If I'm going to have to risk any unilateral stuff, I suppose it's going to be on the bike only*. That's how things stand (slightly askew) at the moment.
*I mean just pedalling itself, rather than one-legged drills etc.

Thats fair enough, I have lower back and pelvis issues and the one legged stuff has help massively of course we are all different though!!

BTW, I may be getting a physio assessment soon – it's been a while – and if I do, I'll raise the issue of unilateral stuff. I'm never going to write anything off completely…

The single leg drills have really helped me out, big mtb crash left me with a pretty dodgy left hip and my left leg is smaller than the right. I'd love to have a test to see which side puts the most power out and how much of a difference there is.

Surely you can afford 1 wrap for race day?
-
• #560
1 knee wrap? I'm positive I don't know what you're talking about.

Veggie option for me, please (stove top roasted poblano peppers, simple citrus sauteed tofu and sweet plantains all folded into a whole grain tortilla)…

No need for winter training for me.
I just bought these...
Planet X one week sale. 10,15 or 20% off, depending how much you spend. These worked out about £350 - can't go wrong... apart from not really being able to afford them :SGood job! I can see there are going to be high stakes on the track in oh-ten!

Probably the cheapest track disc around, and if I'm not mistaken, these are same as FFWD and PRO discs.

only 20% off if you spend 600 though, but you'll need a tub for it anyway!
seriously thinking about the frame and the disc as together they come in for very cheap relatively.
only 4 discs left apparently, PANIC BUY!!

What you need is a pair of corima's :-)
Only 1 of each left, panic buy?

where how much?

My house. And probably £600 the pair. Proper HM track jobbies.

that a front disc?
how much for just that? what condition were they in?
-

To show willing (I'm talking about training again now, and not consumerism in lieu of fucking making an effort), I'm adding a mini-session of unilateral movements to my training week, and will see how I feel at the end of the month. It'll be done cautiously, and no-one is going to convince me to do one-legged pedal drills, so don't waste your breath.
Thanks for the feedback from those concerned.

No, both 4 spokes, front and rear. Out door track don't ya know :-)
Well, get back to training idea also, I adjusted my deadlift technique, based on the Rippetoe tutorial, and its brilliant.

According to the something I read somewhere, the io is more aero up front than a flat disc like the corima anyway.

Babydinotrackboy is a massive fan of Rippetoe's squatting ideas ;)
Interesting, my observation is the opposite. Both mine and my clients seem to have improved faster doing a mix of uni lateral and bi lateral than just one type alone. Of course this is just ancedotal. I do know that both the GB and Aussies squad see a lot of benefit.
I find it transfers better to bike riding and has the added extra of improved core strength/control
