It'll be fine, although they do have a tendency to slip. You can use hairspray to prevent this by all accounts.

^You can also get carbon assembly paste. You can get little sachets of Tacx version for a couple of quid.
Zinn sez def don't use normal grease

thanks for the good advice.

The paste is like swarfega; granules of plastic or something in suspension which says it should increase friction so you don't have to overtorque seatpost/stem bolts to stop slipping.
Some carbon seatposts have a roughened surface already to achieve same thing I think.

Use the carbon paste. Carbon and metals tend to seize with an almost chemical weld. Believe me. I've "lost" a very decent Ali frame after this happened. Tried everything from EVERY website and forum before it literally exploded in the frame. It was my fault for not lubing it.. Story of my life

Literally? You sure about that?

Yes. After trying everything went for Sheldons final resort of hacksawing across and then down. Pair of grip pliers and then "roll" the post in on itself and BANG! It totally shattered in the frame..

Mine's just stuck in there with regular lithium grease. And I probably overtighten the f*ck out of it. Never had any problems.
I was just wandering if putting a carbon seatpost in a steel frame is ok?
If so would you not use any grease to make sure it does not slip?
Thanks
