It's actually Meadowbank Velodrome in Edinburgh. It's been getting a lot of publicity recently as it's scheduled for demolition. See http://www.savemeadowbank.org/ for further info.
Can't claim the credit for the photo though - although I wish I could...
That's my photo, part of a documentary project I did entitled "Regulation" on Scottish sporting venues. Have a look at http://cargocollective.com/albieclark#6809 or download a lo-res version of the book here: http://albieclark.com/regulation/Regulation_Albie_Clark.pdf (7.8mb).

I have looked on the web, but would kill (approximately) for the image which I've only seen on a poster- of Gordon Singleton (mid air) having folded his front wheel in an exceedingly fatal way while riding against Nakano in the 80's (??) world pro sprint champs.
Anyone familiar with it?
S.From this?
YouTube - Round 1 1982 World Pro Sprint Final Nakano v Singleton
What the hell did he look over his shoulder for? His Mum blowing kisses?!
YouTube - Round 3 1982 World Pro Sprint Final Nakano v Singleton
Or this one from the same year Round 3!You could email him about it:

Hmm, I'm not sure he'd really like to be reminded!
The pic is from the front, may not be from '82, but it looks as if the front of the bike was lifted and then put down skew, and that the wheel has just folded... that moment just before it all starts to hurt, a lot!
Some great pics here, anyway.....

this is me many years ago in a race at crystal palace (tuesday nights as it was then). also in the picture is my friend david fry who was also in the VCL velo club de londres. the rider ahead of us is from the gemini cycle club. the circuit was a killer but much shorter than it was when races were originally held there (maybe 40's). i stumbled across this picture today. the frame is a benotto.

They still run races at CP on Tuesday nights. By the looks of it the circuit is the same too, presuming that's the right hand turn which then drops you down past the lake before the sharp left (with the tree on the outside that needs to be avoided) and then the drag back up the hill.

You're looking .............................blah...blah........needs to be avoided) and then the drag back up the hill.
cheers for that. yes thats the right hand turning. many years ago somebody told me the finshing straight was longer and the course didnt include the single file hairpin, great spot to pile on some pressure-great if your near the front bad if your near the back because by the time that pressure trickled through the bunch it was a 30 metre gap :-(
