Am I mad to want this?
without a 33 pre-amp, quite possibly!
-
• #203
Thanks for that, cheeky.

• #204
there you go:
get a second 303 so you can run two mono blocks, add some modern upgrade boards and audiophile heaven awaits :)

Yep, I'm aware of that pre amp. Not bothered about seperate power amps for each speaker, Mrs Skully wouldn't understand, i don't think.
Seem to be available for not - too - silly money. Hoping someone here will offer me theirs though ;)

i have loved the nakamichi tape deck that flips the cassette ever since i first saw it in the film 9 1/2 weeks. tried to find the clip but couldn't. i have one but i have to get a new belt for it, apparently its a common fail on them.

I loved cassette tapes. I especially loved the old mix/comp tapes that people would give you where they'd painstakingly written out all the tracks and annotations in miniscule and intricate writing.

I started copying a bunch of dj mixes from cassette to mp3s while back at home. Audiophiles would be horrified but there's not much more I can do. I just want the music and tapes aren't the best place for it any more.

^Love the signal paths in that leak (3rd pic)
If anyone else (hippy) is encoding their audio cassettes I have a pioneer double deck with dolby B C and S and HX PRO you can take for free.
One side is a bit temperamental and the synchro recording functions are messed up / untested.
It will be stripped for parts in a week. if noone PMs.
-
• #217
Hmm.. I would grab it but I'm trying to do the copying in Australia so I don't have to bring boxes of tapes back here. Strip it! :)
-
• #218
Hmm.. I've got a load of cassettes to encode... I'll take it. And then you can strip it.

Stereo 20's always seem to make a lot of money these days :-s
Never heard one, I gather with sensitive speakers and a good source it would be very sweet, as long as you don't listen to headbanging stuff. No room for one in my current setup...

Ooh , I've got gold cables. Phil Collins has never sounded better.
Fuck off.
-
• #221
Gold? gold is for wankers and charlatans, it's all about directional oxygen free copper these days. or silver if you fancy something less mainstream.

No Jacket Required has doubtless never sounded better for you...

only now can i truly appreciate the mix, i can even hear him struggle to hold down a little bit of bile after singing
Like a river to the sea,
I will always be with you
And if you said a word,
I would follow you
To give me one more night,
just give me that one more night
One more night,
'cos I can't wait forever
Just dug out my Tannoy LGM's....
Now I'm fantasising about a half-decent amp setup...
Am I mad to want this?:
