If you're interested in how London formed and changed throughout the years and some of the more unusual hidden bits - buy Secret London by Andrew Duncan it has loads of walks in it (which could be turned into runs quite easily I would think)

I love the alleys off the north side of Fleet Street, Samuel Johnson's house is back there... Also between St Paul's and the river, Carter Lane and all those other streets around it including King's Wardrobe, which is where the king (dunno which one) used to keep all his garbs before it burnt down... More of a walk than a run but fascinating nonetheless...
Starting next Friday I will no longer be working 70+hrs a week and will have some free time, something that I haven't had in quite some time.
To combat the inevitable addiction to pointless internet sites (facebook, WWTDD, Youtube etc) I wondered if anyone could recommend some interesting things to see and do in London. I feel like I haven't really had a chance to really explore the city in the past year and hope to do so from now on.
Im hopefully going to run (as I have yet to build up a bike, I plan to run everywhere) up to Highgate cemetery next week and want to see the tank in Bermondsey?
Thanks
