  • What do you carry in your messenger bag or saddle bag?

Do you have to carry more than one tool when you'd like to only carry one?

Some people carry chain whips but I don't bother - just a tyre lever and a 15mm spanner.

The beauty of fixed in my view is the simplicity, but what features would your perfect tool have?

  • Cheesecake - email that to shimano, ask for a cut and tell them to get cracking.

  • Crank Brothers 19 tool thingy. Even proves useful at work for bits and bobs. They all pissed themselves when I turned up riding a bike, but soon shut up when I offered it to one of them to tighten up a mannequin base with the handy flip-out allen keys.

  • Anyone that sells a bike tool with a bottle opener on it needs to be punched to death.

  • And I always carry a pool ball in a sock

  • Why is it never a snooker ball in a sock? Is snooker a more gentlemanly sport?

  • They're slightly smaller and don't cave in the skull as dramatically.

  • Surely two snooker balls would be as dangerous or possibly even more dangerous than one pool ball?

True, but the rest of that design is pretty nice.

There could well be a market for a great hand-made bike tool.

Robin Mather created a spanner for the S&S couplers on my bike, and the spanner is lovely. I did wonder at the time of receiving it whether there's a market for a great and sturdy do-everything bike tool. Not the horrible little packs or the generic bike spanner... riding fixed means we know our needs and the tools we need aren't yet reflected by an all-in-one and would make such a tool far simpler than the ones on the market.

  • Try the pedros trixie tool

    Agreed. Tat for teenagers.

  • Surely two snooker balls would be as dangerous or possibly even more dangerous than one pool ball?

No. For every action expect an equal and opposite reaction... you'd backfire.

  • Surely BRM is the perfect tool?

  • No. For every action expect an equal and opposite reaction... you'd backfire.

    Fixed.

  • Surely two snooker balls would be as dangerous or possibly even more dangerous than one pool ball?

They don't have snooker equipment in prisons.

  • The voice of experience^

  • soap works just as well [in a sock, not for playing snooker…]

  • Cell mates?

  • Pen pals.

  • Leeroy?

  • I thought you were changing your name to Gabriel?

  • Anyone that sells a bike tool with a bottle opener on it needs to be punched to death.

people who cant use a lighter don't deserve outdoor beer

  • still a strong consideration...

Leeroy is from the jailbird/death row penpals site you posted.
