  • no, not doing anything wrong. sometimes the wedge shaped bit gets a little stuck, its designed to do that. take the stem and top cap off, wheel out, hold the bike up by the top tube and hit the top of the steerer squarely and firmly with a rubber mallet or chunk of wood - something that wont damage the metal. repeat until it comes out. make sure you have something soft on the floor below the fork so when it goes, it doesnt ding the dropout or your nice floor/carpet/whatever.
