Do you have the box / all accessories?
edit: Not clear - Dibs if boxed.

Also interested. 2nd dib if boxed.

no sorry - no box (I will double check but 99% sure I binned it last time we moved) but I've got the cables and I think I've still got the discs etc that came with it. I'll also include some white apple earbuds too..

:( - Not worth much w/out box (£20?).
Un dibs unless the box is found.

if it had the box it'd be worth £90-100+
I guess fleabay may be the best way to go.

For those who got this iPod - remember you can get a new battery for it.
it will last sometime like 27 hours on a single charge.

^ Agreed, unfortunately without the box, it's just another piece of outdated technology (albeit very nice looking technology).

do these really go for that sort of money? I'm genuinely suprised
modern antique!
I remember getting one before you could easily use them with a PC - and having fun hacking it to work.
I'm going to sell my 6th gen 80gb ipod soon for about the same as the 5GB ones are worth boxed.
Crazy I tell you..CRAZY! -

a sealed, BNIB 5GB 1st generation ipod can go for more than it cost new from Apple ...
-
• #11
Ha, that's a market I'd trust to maintain its value.

me too, I pick mine up in excellent condition for £20.
it also made me realise how incredibly slow the lastest version of the iPod is, the original scroll incredibly fast and changing menu is very instant.
the additonal benefit of having an old iPod with newer technology battery give it an astoundly long battery life.

I've got a 40gb 4th generation.
Thankfully, I've only just thrown out most of the accessories before reading this (you idiots). How much? -
• #14
well, if someone wants it it's theirs for £30 - save me the hassle of sticking it on fleabay...

Don't think that works for all Apple products. My 8 year old eMac is worth about £30, so not quite the £700 I paid all those years ago!

I had a 3rd Gen iPod for AGES, it was the most hardcore and reliable piece of technology I have ever owned. I think it lasted for about 3 years before I literally melted the hard drive through irresponsable use and bad battery modding.
It doesn't really seem like a long time, but considering how disposable most modern gadgets are after an update, I thought it was pretty good. Oh, and I managed to knock someone out with it, after throwing it at their head. I've put it in a frame now...

same here, had my 3rd gen for ages, prefer it to the newer ones too. i then left it in a bag at ikea...

bad battery modding.
What does this mean? Home made way to give ipods better battery life?
If so then very intrigued -

I was going to turn my Mac Plus chassis into a fish tank.
I don't really like fish though.
I left it on the side of the road instead and it was gone in 30min.

If so then very intriguedit already exist, all you have to do is go down to Maplin and buy those newer technology battery for the iPod, mine give me 27 hours on a single charge now. (1st generation).
no need to mod the battery anymore.

it been nearly a decades with my current iPod, renewable FTW.
old school 1st generation white front / aluminium back, M8541 model firewire powered 5GB ipod. Black and white screen, proper clicky-wheel etc. Still seems like there's lots of life in the battery. A few scratches on the back but it has spent most of it's life in a griffin clear plastic case (also included).
They seem to pop up now and again on ebay for occasionally silly money but no idea what to ask - £50?
