If it were a type of Coke it wouldn't be the Cherry variety.

Happened to a friend in Portobello. Same thing. But after calling the police and finally getting the locks cut off a rather posh girl turned up to get her bike only to find her locks cut off and her starting to cry!

was she called Goldi? that would have been good.....

I bet it was a thief, as this is a classic thieves' trick. If it was a track bike, it would be Chris Boardman's Lotus bike as built by Mike Burrows.

does anyone think it may have been a thief?

does anyone think it may have been a thief?
If you're experienced in these things, you don't even have to think; you know this just by gut instinct.

Right choice. I don't think any of my friends have bolt cutters, if this happened to me I guess I'd just have to buy some. Where is a good place to get good value hench bolt cutters?
-
• #19
I've borrowed bolt cutters from a car tyre place before.

£10 for a day, how many bikes would you be able to liberate in that time?
-
• #21
They are both good to know, thanks Neil, if the second one is a bit scary. I'd just be worried by the time I'd got them the thieving scum would have returned. Think you need a friend to guard your bike in the meantime too.

Know your enemy:
Bit bulky, but I suppose it would go in a bag easily.

Aha, this might be better- lower weight so as not to pull your track suit trousers down:
I got out of work last night to find my bike had been chained and padlocked to another bike which was a nice looking MTB.
My bike was Dlocked to the bike rail, and the MTB was double Dlocked round each wheel and a twisty lock round the forks. The chain and padlock was round both my frame, the MTB frame and the bike rail.
They were the only 2 bikes left on the bike rail, someone had either planned to lock both bikes up to later come back and nick them (with what i can only expect to be some hench bolt cutters as we both had kryptonite Dlocks), the other person had done it as trying to be helpful (????) or the guy was just a complete dick, who inconvenienced my whole evening.
Anyway, after waiting around for 40 minutes trying to get hold of the police, my friend turned up with bolt cutters and we removed the chain and padlock, no way i was leaving my bike over night. No way im paying for a new chain either, their own stupid fault! Plus 3 other locks!!! Come on!
Anyone else had anything like this before?
