Sorry if I was not clear- if I was going to build it up with period correct DA I'd want to move the shifter bosses back to the top of the down tube as they were when Koga made the frame in the first place.
A previous owner has cut the original bosses off and attached new ones to either side of the downtube, i.e. the more normal position for them.
Okay, clear. So you considered to make it Koga period correct, not just Dura Ace period correct. Not worth the money to move the bosses (and new painjob, which will be an imitation anyway) imho. Would also be hard to find a correct stopper / adapter for shifters for such a braze-on boss.
Nice bike tho'. Good luck. -

The frame was raced by Marcel Duijn when the bosses were moved to their later and current position. Koga did it for him. It was done to make frame ready for use with STI (at some later point GripShift SRT800 units were installed on a Speedliner). I do not know why they meant that it had to be done, as I have here an ErgoPower Gazelle lo pro with the STI adjusters simply mounted on an adapter piece on top the single downtube boss. Only reason that I can think of is that Marcel or Koga prefered a neat look on a bike that gets in the spotlights, so with STI adjusters on the logical place and no adapter.
Good to hear it arrived in great shape (of course) and that you like what you got. Enjoy it, you got yourself unique piece and a great basis for whatever project you imagine.

Not really sure why I'm posting this here, but attached is another ex Marcel Duijn, his Rabobank Colnago croos bike

In the image of this bike built up that Zieleman posted in the first post there was approx half the amount of seatpost visible that I will need.
Now I'm useless at Lo-Pro sizing- and obviously I have not built it up yet as I lack the parts.
I'm going to have to start spending money on parts very soon if I want to build it, and I am wondering if it would be foolish to throw money at something that will be too small.
My concern is that to have the amount of seatpost showing that there is in the picture then I would need a 64cm frame- should I just ignore the photo, or sell this and get a bigger frame?

if its wrong dammit, and i suspect it is a bit small judging by the picture you put up, then i may be interested, and am conveniently located to pick it up from you, although like you i have no idea about low pro sizing and think it might be a bit long for me.

You are welcome to come and have a look Ed- if you bought a quill stem and some bars with you that would he helpful in terms of working out the sizing.
I'm meant to be picking up bars and stem over the next few days, which is not going to cost the earth, but seatpost/cranks/hubs etc will be.
My intention at the moment is to borrow that stuff off the Fuji, but that's not ideal.

i say butcher the fuji for now, pointless spending cash if your not sure it's the right size.
would love to have a look but think you should work out if its the right size or not first otherwise you might find yourself being mugged if i get too attached!
if you want to borrow some risers and a quill to find out i have a spare set at the moment i can drop off tomorrow night on the way home (although deffo not for sale given the amount of effort that went into polishing them!)

That would be great, I'll be heading West just after work for obvious reasons- you going to be there?

no afraid not, don't finish work till 6-6.30 on Monday.
but can always arrange to do it on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Most lo pros have (very) short stems, so if the frame is on the small side, perhaps it fits perfectly with a regular or large size stem.
Finding (very) long seat post is no problem.
I think I can help you with very long carbon aero seat posts Mike Burrows (I still may have a nr 6 and/or nr 7.
If I still have it and you can use it, I can send it just for postage costs.EDIT: Oooops! I just saw that the seat post size is 26.8.
Mike Burrows posts are 27.2mm. That wil not fit. Sorry... -

That would be awesome.
I'll have a play and see- I don't want to give up yet.
It would be funny to sell one of my bikes to Ed though- it would point out how badly wrong I got the size!
(I'm 188cm tall, not sure about Ed but he's slightly shorter than me)
-
• #63
Slightly shorter is a massive understatement as im 173cm!
-
• #64
Dammit, could you tell me the top tube and the seat tube measures, please
-
• #65
tt is 56cm centre to centre, st is also 56cm centre to centre, 58cm centre to top.
-
• #66
if you are 1.88m, i will say it will be a bit small for you, but just a tiny bit, bit a longish stem and a laidback seatpost, will be perfect
-
• #67
I am 1.85m. For me it fitted great, but I ride away on pretty much everything. If you really think you would need something like 64cm, that would imply you have quite long legs for your lenght. It also surprises me me with eye on that your regular roadbike is only a 58. Koga did not do a 64 RecrodPro btw. Tallest was 60.
Also take into account that on that Koga brochure pic the seat was possibly located on the low side. Photographers are probably more concerned with taking pictures than setting a seat at the right height for a rider.
Hope you will be able to solve it. DC's offer of a long post for shipping is very kind.

• #68
Why not just knock it up as a single speed not fixed and see how it feels to ride.
-
• #69
Fixed or SS makes no difference really- I need a stem and bars then I can try it out properly.
Plus a seatpost really- although the one that I have might be ok for trial purposes.
Just to be clear- I'm not giving up on this!
However if it is too small then I have no need for the 26.8mm seatpost, stem and handlebars that I will have just bought.
-
• #70
Do you want to borrow a 130 lengh stem with converter so you can try some different angles
-
• #71
The one I have to lend is about 10c. So should give you an idea.
Let me know if you want me to chuck it I'm my bag with accompanying risers and grip and I'll drop it off on the way home tomorrow.
-
• #72
That would be great, thanks Ed
-
• #73
Cool will chuck it in the bag tomorrow unless you want to drive up to blackheath this evening.
Hit me up with a pm and number is in the relevant thread.
-
• #74
Shamefully I'm on the train today- so could stay on until Blackheath if you are near the station?
-
• #75
Check your pms dammit.
Will be rolling home shortly and while I know roughly where you are as I dropped 50 off there once I don't know exactly!
