my overwhelming memory of the alps: diesel fumes - im going to the pyrenees this summer!
(don't get me wrong it was worth going to climb all the iconic mountains, but i wont go again, too many people, i have found the pyrenees to be much quieter and better riding IMHO.) -

and that one! -
• #20
What was the €90 for ? And is that last pic Galibier ?
-
• #21

Several of the Tour de France's more memorable moments have occurred on the Col d'Izoard, particularly the exploits of Fausto Coppi, Bernard Thevenet and Louison Bobet. A small cycling museum is at the summit, along with a memorial to Coppi and Bobet. -

I drove down to Huez back in August for some epic rides.......only pity was I had my family with me so had to keep the ride time shortish. Did all I could though......they were all much 'easier' than I thought they'd be! Here the blog http://kipperonabikealptastic.blogspot.com/. Hire bike was about £120 for a full week. A triple. No I didnt use the granny gear.
Can't wait to get back and also go explore the Pyrennes.
