Oh right, so my suggestion was not relevant.
I think you need to move the wheel 1/8" for every tooth difference in the sprockets*, so for a 2 tooth difference you would need 1/4" to allow for the adjustment you want, plus enough room to get the chain off (1/2 - 3/4"??). Obviously you'd need to know the length of the track ends in the first place... Pifko?
