RATM is currently number 1 on amazon, play, and itunes!

It's the song Martha off Closing Time. Up for this ride BTW.
Nice to see you tonight mate! That was suprisingly nice food, I wasn't expecting much. We'll have to go for a nice long ride in the new year.
Snowy, I'll agree with you on his earlier stuff being by far the best, but just because his thematic concerns are worn on his sleeve doesn't mean he is a 4 trick pony, you could probably do that with most of the greats of this century. I got no beef man, I don't want to fight yah :)
I agree on the RATM thing too, there is no point to it apart from anti-X-Factorism, but hell, it's mildly diverting at least. I see no real harm in it, even if it is a little pointless teen-rebellion.

Firstly, pfft to RATM, just as bad as X Factor malarky if you ask me... so rebellious when you're a child of super rich parents, in fact, I've got deja vu, as we've had this discussion before.
I thought Zack de la Rocha was the child of mexican immigrants? Wasn't his grandfather in Mexican revolution?

Meeeh, this is so stupid. I love(d) Rage but it's so juvenile to pitch them against The X-Factor Christmas. I'd rather not get involved.
The X-Factor. I seriously cannot believe how many people watch it.

The other day a West Indian delivery van driver told me that I look like a young Louis Walsh. Gutted I was.

Indeed, it may be easy to write off other bands of a similar ilk as simply packaged teenage angst, but Rage were/are one of the few bands that walked the walk as well as talking the talk (hence my earlier comment in the thread about integrity)
Plus Tom Morello is totally backing the campaign, and Tom Morello is an extremely awesome dude; [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Morello[/ame] (ignoring his time in audioslave) not just for his musical achievements but political activism as well.

Morello was on 6 Music the morning, gave a good humble opinion of the whole thing. I particularly like that he took time to mention that he will be giving a substantial amount of the proceeds to www.youthmusic.org.uk, so that future generations can aspire to create real music and not just be a celebrity. I've bought my copy, even if i already own it.

Aye, i liked his comment that x-factor let you vote for the acts, but not against the show in general. Imagine that bonus option! "press 5 to cancel the rest of the series".
Still wouldn't phone in though, I don't even watch ITV. Except Harry Hill.
I live in the nineties constantly.

The RATM single is actually released under an umbrella company of Sony entertainment.
Simon Cowell- The clever little fucker that he is is behind the whole thing. Its a win win situation for the smug twat.Anyhow its pretty much guaranteed now that RATM will be number 1 for Christmas the odds have come down from 6 to 2.6 and they are dropping further. Sales of RATM on our download store are at almost 3000 since Sunday, the X Factor is on <100

Rage have so far sold 175k, X-factor 110k, by eop yesterday.
However that is only on digital copies - X-factor singles are one of the only ones left that sell around 50% in physical format and that isn't in the shops till today.
X-factor will probably triple their sales in the next day.....

Could you define eop for me please.

end-of-play....
looking back at last years chart, the winner sold over a million, so guess Rage have to sell a fair few more to nail it down.
-
• #140
Yeah thats true. All the parents will buy the x-factor in physical format for their little ones.

end-of-play....
FFS. Can't stand that phrase and was worried that you were aiming for it.
I'll go and sulk in the corner for a while. -

I'll go and sulk in the corner for a while.just using the terminology that UK charts use, don't shoot the messenger!

All the parents will buy the x-factor in physical format for their little ones.
And the little ones will bin it. I worked for the majors.
The main problem is - it doesn't matter how many copies actually sell, it's all about the copies ordered by the retail and which will end up in the bargain basket a month later. -
• #145
Even though Simon Cowell works for Sony, I very much doubt he will see a penny from any RATM sales.
Besides, it's not really about serious politics or protests is it? It's just a funny idea, and a pretty good one if it comes off.
Plus Killing in the Name is a great song, takes me back to be 16.

Who wouldn't want a Christmas No. 1 that has to be heavily censored to get airplay? :)
-
• #147
Morello confirmed, that the royalties will go to charity, so I'm actually curious how it will all end up.
XFM is playing it as a Christmas number 1 already :-) -
• #148
i have two copies of killing in the name already
-
• #149
It's time to have the legal one :-)
-
• #150
they are both legal, one bought off itunes, and one off a cd of their epyonymous album.
smoke that!
Some of them are actually pretty good, and i'd rather see any one of those mentioned above as xmas no.1 rather than RATM, trying to be non-conformist by conforming to another idea, yeah, fucking really smart. Bunch of daft bastards. I hope Cliff Richard gets it this year personally.
