this is unspeakably retarded, unveiling something at an international climate change convention that makes a bicycle (a pretty 'green' way to get about) more damaging to the environment. But mostly it looks like a ghost bike and that freaks me out. That is like inviting electricution.

Actually not very retarded at all. The link above presents a much more informative article. The power is generated when you brake and can be re-used later to push you along. Not sure how the rest of the scheme for green points etc will work in reality but the mechanics of it look pretty innovative to me. Of course it's no good for your training but not everyone is a hard core roadie, trackie, off roadie or fixie skidder.
