  • Why do people shout out "oy" really loud just as they go past in a car or van?

It's seems to me a pathetic attempt to shit you up, but feels like an envious attack.

Sorry, seem to have answered my own question.

  • i thought this thread was a hannukah shout out to the jewish massive. disappointed.

  • Do you mean Oi?

  • Lack of imagination, if you want to insult someone do it properly I say.

  • I've had someone yell "BIKE" at me from a passing car. In comparison to that, "oi" is pretty imaginative...

  • My dog was called Oi.

    That's all I got...

    haha :)

  • I got an "oi you're in the f**kin' way' followed by a bag of cold chips which hit me on the back of the neck while cycling down st john street. (Chips were ok when heated up at least)

  • Why do delinquent Kevs shout "your wheels are going round!!" ?
It is confusing me, because it is such a daft thing to say, no matter how you look at it.

This part is going out to the Jewish massive....

My son sang Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries at the school Chanukah party - he may as well have sung Deutchland Uber Alles.

  • I heard a girl say "I hope you get hit by a car" yesterday. Not sure if it was aimed at me or someone else though...

  • ha, thats awesome. was he in costume?
nice use of alternate hannukah/chanukah spelling. right, i am off to light the menora humming the Horst Wessel song

  • I haven't hear Kev for years.

  • No costume (Viking would have been good), but it was especially funny / embarrassing as my parents and wife were there

That one makes me actually chuckle.

  • Had a white van shout think bike at me this morning, I considered trying to enlighten them that this slogan related to the motorcycle awareness campaign.... but instead decided to give them a highly sarcastic thumbs up.... that'll learn them

My favorite was a another white van who decided to shout as they went past..... they left their passenger door window open, I caught up with them when they were at a standstill in traffic & shouted oi as loudly as possible into the van... they almost crapped themselves & did see the funny side

  • A subtle variation is Hey!

  • Maybe they are shouting 'Goy!', and are, in fact, berating you for not being Jewish?

    brilliant!

  • I went past a white transit Van quite some years back, which they rigged so that the water from the wipers squirt to the outside. I felt abused.

    I laughed, was funny though.

Probably entirely your fault. Have you considered doing some cycle training? ;P

No, he probably just didn't want them on his shoulder any more.

    Talking vans are scary.

  • We had "I'll ride you like a bike!" from some chav whilst out on a night ride once. Thought it was pretty funny at short notice.
