personality has always been a bit of misnomer here. sports person of the year makes more sense. and Giggs is a very worthy winner in my books.

if wiggo won the Tour then that would be the only thing good enough to pip Giggs. cavendish has plenty of time to win this gong. formula 1 isn't sport. can't recall who else was in the running.

I think that by calling it "sports personality of the year", they get out of having to justify the winner on sporting achievements alone, and can give it to a guaranteed 'bums-on-seats' winner for the beeb.
