if the app can handle the network traffic then it's the hosts switching/routing fabric - you run any trace routes to see how many hops (on avg) requests go through?
maybe a packet sniffer for half a day and look to see a pattern in dropped packets? do you not get a bandwidth garuntee? who else do you share the hosting site with? maybe its a betting company or auction site that has natural trading peaks at the times we experience packet drops....?

I'm sure it's more of a case of wideband fractality fluctuations in pip operability. The restorative base architecture is holistically liable to evacuate catastrophically and jettisons multiple thonumistics from the accelerating grid lims.
That, or I've missed something.

I've started the transition to another hosting provider, and also set a few other balls in motion, I hope to have it all done invisibly but this will take a few weeks to set things up.

I've got 5 servers all setup and apparently working... these are a couple of load balancers, a mailing list server, 2 web servers and a database server.
All are lower spec than what we have currently so I'm expecting the hosting costs to drop, not increase. They can be lower spec as this time around I've designed them to spread their work quite evenly and removed the bottlenecks, it should mean that more can be done with less.
Sometime in the next week or 2 the site will transfer over, and I'll try and figure out how to make this an invisible process that none of you really notice.

It look like it's just every morning you'll get some kind of 504 moment.
I can deal with it really, not that much of a bother.
