I know nothing of welding, but this doesn't look that hard to make...
...how much do you recon it would cost to pay someone to make?... maybe a forumunger would do it materials and a reach-around?

This came to my mind aswell. I'm gonna speak to the metal technicians at work and find out on Monday. The design is very simple, so i imagine if the material can be sourced cheap, cut to length, drilled then a bit of welding, or bolts and thread is all that needed......and then a quick powdercoat
You could probably get 99% of the steel from a old broken school desk, or something similar for next to nothing

This style workstand is not that expensive (especially if it's not a brand like Cinelli).
Of course, you can copy the design and have something made like that (or DIY).
But if you calculate all the materials, hours and energy, it's not much cheaper than a similar workstand from a shop.
It may be havier, uglier and easier to damage your frame.I still prefer a chains attached to the ceiling and 2 hooks < GBP 10.-
I have 2 workstands somewhere (1 is a Tacx, exact copy if this Cinelli), but I hardly use them... -

Sorry, but I think it's realy ugly. A carbon Look frame doesn't need these colours.
All personal. -
