  • Nice 1 Phil.
Yet again, a truly awesome ride through some of London's hidden gems.
Really great to see so many friendly faces, and meet a couple new ones. Damo...ha ha - and good effort Bobby!
Lots of memorable moments... pissed up guy singing at the top of his voice with his walkman on, the highway code bit as mentioned previously, seeing Gina's Mum and Dad along for the ride, the strange moment with the random guy with the wide bullhorn bars (who wasn't on the ride) standing off against the car driver, cycling off throwing the wanker gesture, (no mate, you were the wanker), all dem lights, the spinning on the sprint sections, more lights, and of course all the people who made it such a great night.
    Apologies for sloping off early...
1 year i'll actually finish this ride Phil.

The perfect weather was no less than you AND this ride deserved.
    Big Ups!

Your bike is WAAAAAAAAY to shiny coppi.
(missed something?...with that jacket? ha, i think not)

  • also, rapha winter hats in full effect last night....

  • also, rapha winter hats in full effect last night....

Hell yeah, we should have done a team TT style breakaway to glory (over the cobbles?)

Just out of interest, did anyone manage to get up before 8am this morning? I rolled out of bed at 10. Work starts at 9:30. Oops.

  • Snooze buttons on alarms are the work of the devil.

    I'm very, very tired today

  • ^ I did but I feel absolutely knackered for it. This afternoon has been the most unproductive to date (and that is saying something)!

  • I got up at half 10 and in for 11.... haven't seen my boss all day - so he's none the wiser!

  • I was in work at 8.
but then again, I was in work at 4 as well.
    still at the desk now.

  • What happened to your flounce, Henry my dear?

Having looked at those Tron square photos, I'm a bit gutted. I may have to swing by solo at some point.

  • i allowed myself this thread.
and then fucked up a bit.
as soon as I've posted the vid, I'm gone again.
    like a shadow.

  • ^sleeping at work doesn't count as 'getting in' on time.... but you did better than I. Didn't the cleaner give you a fright/didn't you give the cleaner a fright?

  • wasn't there a guy lying on the westferry traffic light roundabout laughing his head off? i've just remembered that, anyone else see him?

also just remembered - bagel moment right at the end:

"So Corney, what did you think of the ride man?"
"Dude... too many gates, too many gates"

  • Got up at 8:30 in work for 9:45. Just about to finish work, looking forward to my bed very very much.
Feel a bit like death but it was worth it.

    Bastard stole my line!

  • Hey, I wasn't on the ride but came across you all at that square beside Liverpool Street, I dont know any of the forumengers so I gingerly took a few pics (without looking like a stalker I hope).

  • Photo WIN

  • Ace ride, got to bed at 4, woke up at 7, then fell asleep and woke up at 8.30, half an hour after I had to be at a printers in Kent. Spent the rest of the day checking proofs and drinking coffee, cursing my droopy eyelids.

  • just finished editing a little video it should have finished converting on vimeo in a couple of hours.

i'll add it as soon as its done, hope you like it.

  • That was an epic ride. Really. Very much enjoyed it. Thanks muchly PJamas :) and the rest of ya for the good company.

Best bits Tron Square, rolling thru the city avoiding drunk fat cat suits, amused at our method of transport, Joes squeeky bum, rolling over many walkways and mini bridges, zipping thru the foot tunnel at immense speed, chuckling at the interactions between PJ and Crabtree.

Gutted I had to leave u guys at Westminster, managed to get in somewhere around 3 hrs sleep before a full day at college and amused colleagues wondering why I was drooping everywhere.

  • yippee its done, ah the memories.

This was the second installment of the very popular bicycle ride entitled Those London Lights #2. pajamas took approx 50 riders on a meticulously planned magical mystery tour across london. the start time was eleven pm and the finishing time was when we got to the end. 50 adults with a pasison for cycling brought together by the internet bicycle forum london fixed gear and single speed LFGSS.

the journey took us to corners of london we didn't know existed illuminated by modern architectural and festive lights. the weather was kind and the company was fantastic. at 2am i still felt excited, privileged and eager for more-which was good as it would be another two and a half hours before i was home and in bed. once home while listening to ella fitzgerald trying to calm down (i was on such a natural high) one song so perfectly fitted my new view of london i had to add it to this video.

pajamas was a star in every way.
this is my view of the ride through my lens. thanks to everybody who made it possible.

i hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

  • My headset now has a rather nice index. Should make no-hands a little easier.

    Cobbletastic!

  • Really enjoyed the vid, Coppi. Winehouse is so suitable for early hours London, too.

So wanted to join, but I had to be fatigue-free for Friday morining.

On an aesthetically precious note: I love the way the grid pattern of Tron square is scaled to frame indivivual cyclists, like pieces on a chess board.

  • GR8 vimeo, any chance of the stills, or at least the group shot?

velocity_boy's new ride is rly lovely, shame it couldn't roll with us all to the death.
