Agreed- I was moving from "hmm, interesting" to "very tempted", but if the entire thing is buggered by not being able to get something as simple as a headset then I'm now at "meh".
The headset bearing is the smaller problem here. The lower bearing is just the bottom half of a normal headset, and manufacturing a replacement upper bearing is within the scope of any decent machinist. The big problem is that nobody in their right mind is going to send money to Belarus - it has a reputation slightly below Nigeria on that front.
While an original Takhion has heritage value, anybody wanting a lo-pro with crown-mounted bars to actually ride would be better off talking to a builder like Dave Yates or Trevor Jarvis, the kind of folk likely to be interested in this kind of project.
