I have just been given a pair of these to try at polo:
I have been speaking to the lovely James at http://www.wearepaintball.com/ after they were mentioned (in this thread?) and people thought the plastic my not be strong enough.
They feel pretty robust and the plastic whilst fairly soft, is raised a bit away from the hand which will cushion the blow. The underside has a bit of padding but free room to grip.
They're a bargainous £8.41 with P&P from ebay here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270443131312 so could be a cheap option.
I'll bring them to Souths next week if anyone wants to try them.
