Yep, get Orange box and Fallout 3 - two superbly immersive single player games - can't reccomend enough. For mulitplayer - Halo 3 and of course MW2 are the mainstays.

Unfortunately my Xbox RROD'd last weekend - while it's being fixed I've just unearthed the Gamecube and am playing Ocarina of time again... yep, it's still a beautiful, amazing game.

The Orange Box is a Half Life 2 package.

Team Fortress... now wtf is all that about. I used to play CS:S on my pc, best online game ever!

Just got my PS3 back from repair. They couldn't fix the disc reader, so have replaced it with a reconditioned model. I removed my 500gb harddrive before sending as instructed. They have given me a 40gb harddrive which I don't need. Does anyone here want it? No charge, not even for posting. You can't swap them around as the information and operating system is wiped when the drive is removed, but might suit someone with a broken or smaller drive. Back up yours before removing!

Only if there is no immediate danger in the respawning area. If it's safe, that's enough time for you to re-settle in front of the TV and for her to bring you a nice brew and apologise.

Gargh, i hate the sprinty stabby players (they're up there with the 1887 akimbo'ers on my frustration list)

I like the dudes who have loud powerful guns, it makes them easier to find and stab in the back/face/scrote.

The Orange Box is one of the most amazing things you can get, brilliant value for money.

Portal is incredible, genius, great, awesome... whatever you want to call it...

HL2 is one of the best FPS games ever made...

If you get it on PC I would realllly recommend getting some mods for hl2 and portal.
