I used to work in a mattress factory. Worse 3 months of my life, dark, dark days. 16 years ago now, but Jesus, the thought of still makes me want to take a load of smack and forget about the world.

I AM an Allan. With two "l"s. Which is fucking fascinating.

still, i'd imagine it was a good spring onto other things? and presumably helped cushion you from financial troubles while you were there? Stuffed the pockets well?

Wagamama gets my vote.
When the staff have finished servicing Tynan, they put up with my kid throwing his noodles all over the place. Which could well be a metaphor for what happened to Tynan, hmmm deep!

Not really a fan of Wagamama's. It's not really authentic...
I enjoy proper Japanese food, not meals that are cooked by european and english people.I compared a meal I really enjoy, Wagamama's looked rather different and tasted not as good.
Still, it was nice though. =)

Are you trying to say I'm being racist Sir? Hagaga.
I am English too, or does my photo confuse you for a southern hemisphere hippy? =)

I searched Racist and found this.

As for autentic, I honestly don't think it make any difference really, pizza places in London are rarely autentic either but it didn't stop them from being utterly delicious (like Santore for instance, oh and Al Forno in Wimbledon).

wagamama's is a pile of my bollocks. authenticism has nothing whatsoever to do with it. it's shite. they exist on schitck, and they ride you, because they marketed the cunt out of you.
-

Yep Wagamamma is trash x1000. Its the most tasteless boring food out there, cardboard boxes have more flavour than Wagamamma noodles.
-
• #39
tasteless food? cardboard boxes has more flavour?? you have never tried airline food!

Yep have eaten lots of airline food, most is rather ordinary but you don't see British Airways catering shops all over London either do you? I would rather eat a Korean Air inflight meal than pay to go to Wagamamma again.

I've never been to a Waga. Does this mean their marketing has failed?
I've never been to the USA either.. their marketing must be real shit.

skully took me to the Lexington st one about a decade ago, was good then. what I find is that a lot of eating places that are chains start with good ideas, really making an effort, then gradually they get portion controlled-watered down. the operation becomes solely about making the most dollar from least ingredients and a lot of presentation.
in Oz they have Laksa noodles soups that easily beat any similar meals here- delicious and cheap but never seen them here......
Hippy shouldn’t you be sitting down to a few cold ones outdoors in the sun and a steak the size of a toilet seat right about now? -

I'm
playing withavoiding the niece, waiting for the bbq to be fired up. You're right about the cold ones though. Beer o'clock! -

so many of the good things about my lifestyle were picked up from couple of years down under. may go back sometime.....
after mtbing and cleaning the bike would leave it in the sun to dry (in 5 mins) and only EVER use dry lube....
now go and chill outdoors in sun listening to kookaburras ya b*****d. were all getting up in the dark and starting another day. -

That may well be what's happened. I never went to Wagamama when it was supposed to be good but went once to the Islington one recently and found it perfectly awful.

Alan Yau set Wagamama up, turned it into a commercial succes then flogged it to fund Busaba.
It apparently went to hell in a hand basket at that point, as they moved production of the food from each branch to a central factory type operation, cut costs and so forth.
Say what you like about Alan Yau but he has a keen instinct for making money from good food- Busaba is good value for good food at the end of the day.
Hakkasan, Yuatcha and so forth are all good.
That the management style of these places leaves something to be desired- well, the customer never sees that.

sorry to hear that winston, got taken there a couple of years back on a corporate jolly, and the food was fantastic, as was the cocktails, probably had more of those than the food in reality. But it still holds a special place in my stomach's memory...
so why was it so bad?
No. I have a belt though.
