People shouldn't be able to play with one until they've proved they have actually tryed to build a mallet themselve first!

The only reason that there is a DIY ethos is because nothing was previously available.
By your standards the Joust should also not be available as it goes against the ethos of "any old bike".

Imagine the outcry when they start making polo specific balls?

Why do you assume I'm not calm, I'm meerly pointing out that if you think people should have to make their own mallet as a rite of passage then they should also have to play on a bike they've build for the sport too.

Don't get me wrong, I will always build my own mallets as I like to make them in a specific way but it's progression for the sport for people to be putting thought into products such as this of the lucky heads.

We're stocking Fixie Inc. at the shop I work at, so might order one in for myself.

the internally threaded rod is awesome though. need to find some of that.

Isn't it normally the mallet that snaps before the head dies?

Rupert, what avantages do you see using the rod??
I think, it makes you do a bigger diameter hole through the pole, making it weaker

a better design would have been to thread the tip of the pole so the bolt comes in through the bottom up inside the pole
