joao, the actual value of the rims is what someone is willing to pay for it? If you've got a buyer whose willing to pay over the odds for cxp12's flog them to him, I did a quick google for the rims and the thread which picture and price came from, came up.
last ones that went up on the bay went for $100 inc shipping, 28h mind

no man, thats not what i meant! what i meant was, i was trying to figure out how much they really are worth in order to have like a minimum price. the guy in question has more money than sense and eventhough the rims seem to be worth 55/60 pounds i might go for a little more. its not morally super correct but im no saint.

Any pics of yours built up Max?

Not yet, I'll take a picture of my bike at some point soon though.

i paid 100 for a pair of NOS ti grey cxp12s. bit over the odds maybe but they were exactly what i was looking for and other than campag omegas there arent many rims with that rounded profile. i thought it felt wrong to lace campag rims to dura ace hubs so sprung for the mavics. charge what you like... blb want 75 a rim for cxp14s.

I know someone that wants to buy them but I don't know how much I should ask.
what a stupid...blah blah.
advertise the fucking things at a price you want to sell them, then see if people buy them.
If not decide if you want to keep them or sell them, and then change price or withdraw them.WTF eyebrows I've never heard you talk such bollocks.
If you read the OP it mentions their is a buyer already, followed by a polite request for help.
If your suggesting Joao+bcn adverstises, and then withdraws the ad pending a response – that's wasting everyones time and is basically dishonest.

If I put them on ebay I'd hope for £60.

Regardless of where he's selling them- he's still advertising a price.
Assuming he hasn't just found the rims on a tree or made them, then he knows they have a set value- because he bought them for a set amount.
Regardless of this fact all sales have a base price below which it would be stupid for the seller to sell, because the item will have greater value to the seller than the buyer.Dishonesty in selling is not pulling the advert if a price is not met. The seller is under NO obligation to sell.
In fact he can even raise the price. Fuck, as a seller, he can do what the fuck he likes. If a buyer accepts a price then he and the seller are then, and only then obligated to trade, otherwise, then it becomes dishonest.

simple economics in fact dictates that things are worth exactly:
A. what someone is willing to pay.
B. what someone is willing to sell at.the balance of the two dictates the price, and hence we get the idea of supply and demand.
Dumbed down, and poorly written on an internet forum -

João, are you willing to sell ME those rims for a ridiculous low price?

I feel after a few years of being nicey nicey on here, i cbf anymore.

Jaou+mcn, items such as bike parts have no intrinsic monetary 'value'. Money is an artificial concept. Economics tells us that things are worth what someone is willing to pay. Charge more and you'll sell fewer things, charge less and you'll sell more (not taking into account various other variables of course). You'll need to find someone who appreciates their rarity and coolness if you want more than £50 for a secondhand pair of rims. Personally I would give you no more than a bag of turnips for them, but you might find someone for whom they are just the thing.
Get 'em on Ebay and chill out about it.

Bullshit.
They are worth 53 pounds.

• #42
Oh right. Does that include postage?

Yes Superprecise... and VAT.
I dont really see the problem with this. I have a frame and a full bike at the moment that I want to sell, but have no idea what a reasonable price would be. Yeah, I could bung them on ebay but I'd rather see them go here for a price which is fair, but a bit cheaper than they are worth on the open market in the interest of forum philanthropy. I planned to ask the question on here prior to selling rather than coming up with some arbitrary figure.
Finished Ebay auctions are a reasonable indicator, but I cant see anything for these rims, nor the bikes I want to sell.

thats what I fucken reckon anyway.

They are worthless whilst sitting around talking about them. What do you want to hear? You obviously have a price range in mind, so just sell them to this person or on here for that and have the joy of knowing they went to someone who wanted them and would use them, or stick a couple of quid on and be prepared to barter, or put them on ebay and deal with it, as opposed to sitting on them and waiting for a some kind of frenzied price war from the forum (which obviously isn't likely)
Btw Balki, what bike you selling??

I want something 531 and 56cm with eyelets for mudguards.
Any chances?
-
• #48
Nope... thats what I need too, miro. Im looking for a fucking ugly fixed pub beater.
Selling a 4130 Schwinn Madison frame, carbon condor forks and condor headset at some stage. I'm also considering moving on a Colnago (late 70's maybe?) with Nuovo Record group. I just dont ride it.
Teh Colnago might be an ebay job though.

Sell it to me for $50 and I'll put Raceblades on it for the commute.

@ OP:
Thinking about it now,
HTFU and sell the rims for the price* you* want.
It's the risk you take when you sell something. If you don't know what it's worth then that's your problem when it gets to the point that you want to sell the item.
If this customer you already have is prepared to pay over the odds for something and you are prepared to let that happen, then go for it.
You bought them I assume? That should surely give you some sort of basis of value.
They are your rims, they are your customer, and it is your sale.
dibs!
